12/19/2016 Day 1: We went to the Walk of Fame in Hollywood and it was raining! Kevin and I tried to reenact corny romantic scenes from Asian dramas lol and we had a little too much fun. I'm not surprised if a couple of people gave us weird looks. We tried to avoid the rain by going shopping and we went into this cool Japanese store that sold furniture, stationary, and a lot of other random stuff. Then we went into this souvenir store that had a lot of fake Oscar awards and other cool little things, but finally our hunger got the best of us and we went to a Japanese restaurant called Daichan. It was a small restaurant and the ambiance was great! Luckily, we didn't have to wait to get seated. We ordered the calamari, which tasted better than it looks in the picture, the sashimi bowl, the udon, and the steamed cheesecake. The sashimi was definitely the highlight of the meal for the both of us because it was delicious and affordable! The cheesecake was also very good because it was not too heavy, and definitely different than regular cheesecake in that it had a spongy texture to it.
Late night burrito run before checking into our hotel at the Marriott. Our hotel was really nice, but they had some technical issues when we stayed. Our key didn't work and we ate our soggy burrito outside of our room waiting for the technicians to fix it. The next day we just ended up switching rooms and got complimentary breakfast!
12/20/2015 Day 2: Disneyland! After waiting for almost a year I finally got to go to Disneyland! We went with Wayland and Amelia. They knew all the tips and tricks, so we followed them. We went bright and early around 8am when the park opened. We didn't have to wait in line for many rides, and we got Fast passes which saved us a lot of time. The only ride we waited forever on was Peter Pan (1.5 hours?) We didn't get a chance to watch Fantasia, but we watched Paint the Night Parade, and it was amazing! After the parade we left to go eat pho, and returned to the park to watch fireworks, but it was crazy crowded. Still a great experience, but wish we had a little more time to just walk around the park a little more. Also Kevin got me a Pikachu build a bear haha I felt like such a little kid.

Day 1: 8/7/15 Friday morning bright and early! We left from San Jose at around 5:15 AM to LA. Kevin drove the whole way, and I fell asleep for sometime. He tried to take a picture of me sleeping, but failed hehe
First stop was Fat Sal's and Diddy Riese (You can't beat $2 ice cream sandwiches.) Gotta fill up those bellies before our adventures begin!

Next stop: The Getty. This was both our first time here and we didn't know what to expect. We rode a tram up some hill/ mountain and the view was beautiful! There were different parts of it including a beautiful garden, some cool architecture, and a lot of artwork from different time periods. The artwork was fun and interesting, but we were more into the gardens, architecture, and beautiful views. Kevin kept trying to show me the hand holding pose that couples do, but I just failed miserably at it lol. We also kept singing Disney songs throughout the garden. People probably looked at us like "wtf?" #noshame "Let's get down to business...." "I can show you the world..."

Are we great models or what? :p

We originally decided to go on this LA trip because of the night market. A year ago when we first met we talked about the 626 night market, and a year later we finally went. ✓ off the to do list. One down and a ton more to go :)

Day 2: 8/8/15 Mmmmmm EMC. Just a few blocks away from the Line Hotel in Ktown. We were so excited we showed up before they opened. Kevin went in and the lady awkwardly told him that they weren't opened yet, so we stood outside hehe. Anyways, never heard Kevin compliment a place so much! Gotta give it to them though, that lobster roll was deeelicious! A little pricey, but definitely worth the splurge once in a while. Would be even better if we made it to their happy hour. $1 oysters!
Why can't we ever stop eating?! I love gelato, but was more intrigued by Armorino Gelato's different flavors and the flower shape they made with their ice cream. Then we were both sleepy and in a slight food coma, so we went to Euro Cafe for some quick coffee fix.
|
There was too much traffic going to Santa Monica Pier, so we stopped by Third Street Promenade instead. We saw a dad and son duo playing the guitar and drums to "Here comes the Sun". They were so talented, especially the young boy. The weather was perfect and we walked above the beach. Still relaxing!
Yesss we tried to take "deep" cliche photos again and YESSSS I know it didn't work out :(

You don't want to mess with us!

Someone's having a little too much fun with these hats... :D
A lot of driving throughout the day made us all super sleepy and lethargic, but the sound of $12 Korean BBQ woke us up instantly
Day 1: 3/20/15 Thursday night we crashed at Will’s place near UCLA, and woke up bright and early the next day (actually around 10) looking for a place to eat. There were so many choices, but we finally settled Yama Seafood. This little hole in the wall looked like a typical supermarket selling seafood, but it had some very affordable and pretty good quality sashimi. Yummmm! Don’t be deceived! Looks like it would only take 15-20 minutes because there were only a few people in front of us, but it’s more like a 45 minute wait.
Car Selfie! On the way to Bud Namu Korean BBQ
We went to a place called B Sweet after for some bread pudding. We didn’t expect it to be anything special because our Asian taste buds just naturally gravitate towards the boba, glutinous rice balls, and shaved ice of the dessert world. Boy were we wrong! It was some mouthwatering cinnamon bun bread pudding topped off with some vanilla ice cream!
You would think we would be full by now, but it’s LA , and the eating never stops! Blockheads shaved ice (we needed our Asian dessert fix). Needless to say that was also really good, sesame shaved ice with mochi, red bean, and condensed milk.
So excited to try Popbar after seeing so many Instagram posts and pictures. Maybe we got the wrong flavor and combination, but mixed berries sorbetto with dark chocolate dip and waffle cone was not berry good.
Tranquil Tea Lounge! We were expecting milk tea with boba, but this is an actual tea lounge. Nonetheless the tea was very refreshing and made really well. We got a Geisha’s kiss (Kevin’s fave) and some green drink that tasted like matcha and coconut (Eileen’s fave)! The dessert went really well with the tea too! Never knew gluten free desserts tasted so good (with vanilla ice cream again of course)!
BEACH TIME!!!
Newport Beach! Beautiful view and beautiful weather

We
tried to take romantic photos, “deep “philosophical photos, and ones where we
manipulated camera angles. Let’s just say it’s still a work in progress. Gotta give
us credit for trying!
|
I
swear the Miyagi Burger looked extremely juicy and delicious, but not so much
when it was cut in half.
|
Day 3: 3/22/15 Bachi Burger! Mmmm salivating just thinking about it. Can’t go wrong with the Ronin Burger and the Miyagi Burger with some Oxtail fries.
